1.      Anuj Agnihotri is a qualified MBBS doctor. When most of top rankers of UPSC CSE comes from humanities or engineering backgrounds, Anuj is different. He has done MBBS from AIIMS Jodhpur in 2023. During his MBBS days, he had decided to become a Civil Servant.



2.      Anuj believes that as per the current set up, it is easy to make groundbreaking change in public health as a Civil Servant. That was the reason why he had decided to not go for PG degree after completing his MBBS.

3.      Before securing All India Rank 1 in the UPSC CSE 2025, Anuj was selected in Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Services, and he had joined DANICS.

4.      Anuj comes from Rawatbhata. It is a small town in Rajasthan. Interestingly, this town is the home of Rajasthan Atomic Power Station. Further, the father of Anuj is working with Nuclear Power plant in Rawatbhata. As a matter of fact, UPSC has asked many questions related to Rawatbhata.

5.      Anuj has done schooling from Atomic Energy Central School, run by the Rawatbhata Nuclear Power Station and meant only for students whose parents are employed there.

6.      Anuj has completed Senior Secondary Education from Kota, Rajasthan, a town known for coaching institutes for medical and engineering aspirants.

7.      Anuj is rare when it comes to selection of Optional Subject. He gave Mains Examination with Medical Science as his optional subject. It is very rare that Medical Science is chosen as optional subject in UPSC by MBBS qualified aspirants.

8.      Anuj is a great fan of Virat Kohli and Hockey legend P R Sreejesh. Sports help teach him discipline and the virtue of mental toughness.

9.      His scintillating success proves that background doesn’t matter for cracking the toughest competitive examination of India. He comes from a small township and studies in a Nuclear Power Plant run school with medical background.

10.  He has also made a clean transition from medical studies to administration without any confusion. Once made the resolve, he gave everything and crack the exam with All India Rank 1.
