B M Vijay Shankar was a Karnataka cadre IAS officer. He was originally a KAS officer and was later promoted to IAS as per the prevailing rule of UPSC.

Vijay Shankar has committed suicide on 23^rd June, 2020. He was said to be under severe depression ever since he was arrested in the IMA scam involving crores of rupees.

B M Vijay Shankar was born and brought up in Bengaluru. He had cracked Karnataka Public Service Commission Examination and was allotted KAS. He was considered as an officer with integrity and honesty. The blot of IMA scam in which he was also arrested has made him completely a different person.

As the Deputy Commissioner of Bengaluru Urban, he was accused of creating false report. Further, the SIT had found him involved deeply in the infamous I Monetary Advisory Ponzi Scheme in which thousands of people were cheated. He was arrested in July 2019 by the SIT probing this case.

He was found hanging in his house at Jayanagar, Bengaluru. Police is investigating the case.
