Merin had objected a report in DNA titled – Top Ten Most Beautiful IPS Officers of India. There is no denying that the report was highly sexist and was printed for the sake of advertisement revenue. An established news organization should not go to this extent. Merin got widespread support for her objection.



Merin recently got public attention when as Kollam Police Commissioner she went all the way to Riyadh to arrest a rape accused. The 38 year old man had raped a 13 year old girl and had fled to Riyadh (Read India Today Report on this issue).
