Shailendra Kumar Mishra is a 2009 batch Indian Police Service Officer with Jammu and Kashmir cadre. He is a highly educated person. He had a dream of becoming an IAS officer since childhood. However, his category (unreserved/general) and low rank couldn’t ensure IAS. He had to contend with IPS. 



The category again came into the picture when he was given Jammu and Kashmir, which he had not preferred.

After joining IPS, Shailendra forgot these hurdles and has done commendable job. 

Shailendra was recently in news for reminding people that rejoicing about the killing of militants is not good as they are our own people. His statement was taken out of context and had become a matter of controversy. 

Shailendra was also removed from the post of SP of Udhampur few months back because he was not able to curb bovine smuggling. He was miffed with this treatment and his statement about militants should be taken in this context.
