Prajwal was born on 5^th August, 1990 in Bengaluru in one of the most powerful political families of Karnataka. His father H. D. Revanna is the son of the former Prime Minister and prominent farmer politician of India Mr. H. D. Deve Gowda. His mother Bhavani Revanna is also widely regarded as a lady with very kind heart who is always ready to help people in need.

Prajwal did his entire education from Bengaluru. After completing schooling, he took admission in a prominent private engineering college from where he has completed B. Tech with Mechanical Engineering. He had no plans to go for engineering as a career. Rather, he concentrated on making his presence felt as a young politician. He started to take extensive tours in Musuru and adjoining areas. He got first hand experiencing in managing an election in 2014 Lok Sabha Election when he handled H. D. Deve Gowda campaign from Hasan.

Prajwal Revanna is quite close to his mother Bhavani and brother Suraj. In fact, it is Mrs. Bhavani who is being seen as goading Prajwal to revolt against H. D. Kumaraswami.
