Indraja is an Indian film and television actress. She is a renowned face in the South Indian film industries and has worked in various South Indian regional languages movies, like Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. She has a huge fan following throughout South India, even though she has become sort of dormant since 2005 as far as acting is concerned.

Indraja had started her acting career in 1993 with Tamil film Uzhaipalli. One year later, she became a super star with her stupendous performance in Telugu movie Yamaleela. She has also worked with many television serials in Tamil, primarily with the Sun TV.

Indraja was born on 17th October, 1977 in Chennai in a Telugu family. Her real name is Rajathi. She used the name Indraja for acting, which has, in fact, become her real identity. She belongs to a Carnatic musical family. It was natural for her to gain attention towards music, dance and acting during her school days. She has won many awards and accolades for her being a mesmerizing kuchipudi dancer.

Indraja was having a dream to become a journalist. After graduation, she was planning to do a course in Mass Communication. However, the destiny has written something else for her. A chance meeting with a prominent film director in a musical event changed her career track and soon she signed three films. Since then, there is no looking back.



Husband of Indraja

Indraja is married to another South Indian actor named Mohammed Absar. They got married on 7th September, 2005. Before getting married, they dated for close to two years. During this time, Indraja successfully convinced her parents for tying knot with a Muslim man.



The couple has a daughter who was born in 2010. They have no plan to have any more child.

Indraja is fighting a legal case against her previous manager. A news was leaked in the media that veteran Malayalam actor Mammootty had appeared for her in the court as an advocate. IT is a known fact that Mammootty has bar license and he had practiced law for two years before becoming an actor. In this context, people started to believe the news.


However, as things stand, this turned out to be a cooked up story. Indraja has categorically denied taking legal service of Mammootty for her court case.
