Sriram Venkitaraman, IAS: Profile, Family, Girlfriends and Wiki


Sriram Venkitaraman is a 2014 batch Indian Administrative Officer of Kerala Cadre. He is young and a new member of the elite IAS club, but he has already started to make national news with heroic decisions. His action to go as per the law of the land and remove encroachment of the government land in Munnar had created a sort of storm in Kerala politics. Removing encroachment led to removal of a Christian religious symbol cross and all hell went lose because of this. A Kerala MP even termed this act similar to that of Babri Mosque demolition.




Sriram was posted in Munnar as Sub Collector. In such a sort span of time, he has become a folk hero of the area. He is quite cool and stylish. People keep watching him riding Royal Enfield Bullet with goggle and classic beard. His good works despite opposition have made people revere him.

This lavish lifestyle has taken a big toll on him. He was recently involved in a freak accident where his car rammed into a bike killing a humble journalist Mr. Basheer. It is believed that he was driving the car. However, he said that his girlfriend Wafa Firoz was on the driving seat. It may be noted that he has gotten his hand fractured in this accident. Sriram had only recently rejoined the Kerala Administration after completing a study leave. He is the Survey Director of the state.

Sriram has now been arrested by the Kerala Police for killing Basheer. IPC 279 (Rash Driving) and IPC 304 (Culpable Homicide not Amounting to Murder) have been used against him.

Sriram is a trained doctor. He has always aspired to become a doctor throughout his schooling. He did MBBS from Government Medical College in Thiruvanthapuram and later did PG in General Medicine from same college. He was turning out to be a very good doctor when one day out of sudden he decided to quit the lucrative career and become an IAS officer. He shifted to Delhi and started preparation for Civil Services Examination. In his very first attempt, he cracked UPSC Civil Services in 2013. He cracked this prestigious exam in style – getting All India Rank of 2. 

As an IAS, one of the biggest achievements of Sriram is banning plastic at Sabrimala. He along with senior IAS Harikrishna did this despite opposition from shopkeepers of the area. Few days later, The High Court also seconded the decision and ordered banning of plastic thereby giving legal status of Sriram effort. Similarly, his efforts to free Munnar from land encroachers are getting appreciation throughout. Unlike Durga Shakti Nagpal of UP (who was suspended for doing the same thing by Akhilesh Yadav), Sriram has not been punished. He has only said that there are many in the Government who are supporting his endeavor.

As mentioned above, Sriram is endowed with cool look. He is a successful handsome guy and hence teenage girls are eyeing towards him for date. He had concealed his relationship till now. The above mentioned accident revealed the other side of his life. Now, we all know that the cool IAS is in relationship with Wafa Firoz.
