Deepali Masirkar is one of
the most respected IPS officers of India. She has successfully broken the glass
ceiling effect prevailing in the police service in India and has shown that
sheer determination with right attitude can lead to stupendous performance even
in the most trying circumstances. She is an icon for Indian teenage girls in
general and Maharashtrian girls in particular.
Deepali is also termed as
the lady Singham of Maharshtra along with another lady IPS officer Jyoti Priya
Singh.
Profile of Deepali Masirkar
Deepali Masirkar was born
and brought up in Nagpur. She did schooling from Nagpur. Her father was a
senior officer with the Forest Department, Maharashtra. When she was in class
V, she saw an IAS officer visiting her father residence. She was mesmerized
with the aura around the officer and that very day decided to become an IAS
officer. This dream stuck with my mind even though she was just an average
student. She performed good in Class X and XII examination.
After class XII, she decided
to do B. Sc. rather than going for MBBS or B. Tech. Keeping off strong
opposition from family and friends, she took admission in a college in
Hyderabad for B. Sc. in Bio Technology. After graduation, she again shocked her
parents by her decision to prepare for Civil Services. She wanted to go to
Delhi for preparation while her mother was reluctant. In the end, she was able
to persuade her father who took him to Delhi and arranged everything, including
accommodation and coaching.
Deepali cracked UPSC Civil
Services Examination in her very first attempt. Her All India Rank was 384 and being an OBC by her caste she expected to get service of her choice. Unfortunately, she couldn’t get
IAS because of lower rank. She could get her second choice of
services – IPS. Another sort of bad luck stuck with her when she got Nagaland
cader, and not her home state Maharashtra. However, later she was able to get inter
cadre deputation to Maharshtra. She served as DCP of Crime Branch and currently
is the Zonal DCP at Nagpur. Her people friendly work and commitment to ethics
has made her a popular figure of Vidarbha.
Husband and Family of Deepali Masilkar
Deepali is married to Rohan
Samant who is a Maharashtra Cadre IPS officer. Because of the cadre of her
husband, she was able to come from Nagaland to Maharashtra.
Age of Deepali Masirkar
Deepali was born on 24th
June, 1985. At this juncture, she is 32 years old.
