Chinmayi was born on 10th September, 1984 in Mumbai. Few years after marriage, her family was shifted to Chennai. Her mother T. Padmhasini is a renowned musicologist. It was her mother who was her first teacher when it comes to music. She learned Carnatic music at a very young age and got scholarship from the Government when she was only 10 years old. She started working as a singer at a very young age. However, she didn’t discontinue her study. Initially, she studied from home and after completing schooling she took admission in the Madras University from where she has did B. A. in Psychology.

Chinmayi is married to Rahul Ravindran in 2014. They started to date one year back in 2013 when they were introduced to each other by a mutual friend. Rahul is also a good actor and has worked in Tamil and Telugu films. Interestingly, the news about their relationship was broken by none other than T. Padmhasisni, the mother of Chinmayi on Twitter.

Chinmayi Sripada is also known for raising the issue of online trolling. Unlike biased female journalists, her appeal touched everyone. She was threatened to be raped and acid attack because her views didn’t matched someone’s political understanding. Sripada started an online campaign and compelled Twitter to take note of it. She frankly told that Twitter can’t be a medium to threaten a woman of rape and acid attack. More than 40, 000 people signed the petition on change[dot]org. Chinmayi bluntly told that she is not against freedom of expression, but no one an abuse this fundamental right to issue rape threat to a woman.

Getting Robbed in the USA


Recently, Chinmayi was robbed in the San Francisco. Her car window was smashed and robbers took away all valuables lying inside. She informed her followers about the theft on her Twitter account.
