Shalmali Kholgade is one of the most successful Indian singers in the contemporary times. She is experiencing burgeoning profile because of her mesmerizing voice. She has already been bestowed with the coveted Filmfare Award for best playback singer (Female). Apart from Hindi, she has also sung many songs in different Indian regional languages, like Marathi (her mother tongue), Bengali, Telugu and Tamil, among others. It should be noted that Shalmali had won the best Playback Female Singer award for her very first film – Ishaqzaade (2012). Since then, she has given her voice to many blockbuster Bollywood songs.

Shalmali was born on 2nd January, 1988 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Her mother name is Uma Kholgade who is a renowned Marathi theater personality and Classical Singer. Naturally, the environment at her home was conducive for Shalmali to took keen interest in music from very early age.

At a very young age of 16, Shalmali started to perform on stage. In fact, from 2004 to 2012 she has done stage performances throughout the world and people started to recognize her as a very powerful music personality from India. It was only in 2012 when she decided to make her appearance felt in the Bollywood. It should be noted that she had refused many offers before this Ishaqzaade.



Not only singing, Shalmali has always been given offers to work in films. The reason is the fact that she is replete with amazing beauty. However, she never wanted to work as an actress. Though, she worked in one Marathi movie in which every critic had appreciated her performance, she decided to not sign any movies in the near future and concentrates on her first love – singing. However, she had once judged an Indian Idol show, but that’s only because of her interest in music.

Shalmali Kholgade is quite secretive when it comes to making anything public about her personal life. There is no denying that she is in a committed sort of relationship with a guy who is also a Marathi singer. However, nothing is known about the identity of that guy.
