Rajbala Verma, IAS: Profile, Husband and Family

RajbalaVerma is a 1983 batch IAS officer of Jharkhand cader. She opted for the new state after the bifurcation of Bihar. She recently retired from the post of the Chief Secretary of Jharkhand. She is the second woman to hold this post in Jharkhand. She is considered a personal favorite of Raghuber Das and many believe that it is Rajbala Verma who is running the government rather than that inefficient but honest Raghubar.

Rajbala Verma is also considered as a highly controversial officer. One the one hand you will find people showing deep respect for her. She had once become the beacon of hope for millions of teenage girls in Bihar in 1990s. She was widely regarded as tough task master who is incorruptible. At the same time, there are enough indications that she had become quite close to Lalu Prasad Yadav and has in fact helped Rabri to run the administration without known Alphabets. It is a known fact that the CS post helped her to get away from the fodder scam.

Profile of Rajbala Verma

Rajbala Verma was born and brought up in Rajasthan. She cracked UPSC Civil Services Examination in 1983 and got Bihar cader. Her first on-job experience was under R. K. Singh (currently BJP MP from Arrah). She was a trainee under R. K. Singh who was the DM of Patna in 1984. After the unfortunate assassination of Indira Gandhi, the anti sikh riots started everywhere. Patna has sizeable number of Sikhs because of Guru Gobind Singh. R. K. Singh and Rajbala Verma ensured that Patna remained free from riots and they worked tirelessly to keep Sikhs of Patna safe. After training, the first posting of Rajbala was in Begusarai as an SDO. This district of Bihar is quite rich and also notorious for producing so many mafias. As a young SDO, Rajbala fought against everyone. That was also the first time when board examination was conducted in Begusarai without a single incident of cheating. Similarly, Rajbala as DM of Gaya worked to keep Ranbir Sena and Maoists under check. There are many more interesting stories about Rajbala Verma because of which she was called as the Iron Lady of Administration.

In late 1990s, she came close to Lalu Prasad Yadav and lost all her sheen.

Husband of Rajbala Verma

Rajbala Verma is married to Jyoti Bhramar Tubid, who was also an IAS officer. In fact, Mr. Tubid was senior to Rajbala. He was slated to become the Chief Secretary of Jharkhand, but resigned to fight Assembly election from Chaibasa on BJP ticket. He lost the election by heavy margin giving another reason for people to believe that politics is not for honest person in India.

Mr. Tubid father was a minister in Bihar during 1960s.
