Sanjiv Singh, Dhanbad: Profile, Family, Wife and Wiki

Sanjiv Singh is the BJP MLA of Jharia Constituency. He is the scion of Coal Mafia Late Surya Dev Singh and currently the epicenter of gangwar going on in the coal belt of Dhanbad. His family is representing Jharia in the Legislative Assembly since 1977 when Surya Dev Singh had won it for the first time as a Janta Party candidate. 

Singh Mansion, the home built by Surya Dev Singh, has remained the power center of Dhanbad. However, the influence of this power center has decreased significantly especially when families of two brothers of Surya Dev Singh revolted (Bachcha Singh and Raj Narain Singh). Singh Mansion has remained confined for families of Surya Dev and Ramadhir Singh. The murder of Niraj Singh and subsequent arrest of Sanjiv Singh further dented the image and respect of Singh Mansion among people.

Profile of Sanjiv Singh

Sanjiv Singh was born and brought up in Dhanbad. When he was only 6 years old, his father Surya Dev Singh died in mysterious circumstances. As per medical report, the reason of death was heart attack. However, the family believes that Suresh Singh was behind the death. 

The childhood days of Sanjiv Singh were not good. He remained under constant threat to the life. The rising profile of Suresh Singh and constant gangwar for coal business and labour union created a sort of shadow over his growing up days. To his credit, he was never directly involved in any criminal activities. In 2003, his elder brother Rajiv Ranjan Singh was kidnapped by Suresh Singh men never to be seen again. He is believed to be dead. The death of his only brother left a deep scar in the heart of Sanjiv Singh. 

Rajiv Ranjan was believed to be kidnapped and killed in retaliation of the brutal murders of Sakal Dev Singh and Vinod Singh – relatives of Suresh Singh. 

The cousin of Sanjiv Singh and son of Ramadhir Singh named Shashi Singh retaliated the murder of Rajiv Ranjan after 8 years in 2011 when he pumped 6 bullets in the body of Suresh Singh. Ramadhir Singh is now in jail and Shashi Singh is on the run.

In all these chemistry, there lie families of two brothers of Surya Dev Singh. Bachcha Singh who was a minister in Babu Lal Marandi Government first revolted against Singh Mansion. Later, Niraj and Eklavya Singh (sons of Raj Narain Singh) also revolted. The reason for later revolt was murder of Sanjay Singh.

Only recently, Ranjay Singh who was believed to be the right hand of Sanjiv Singh was murdered. And, few months later, Niraj Singh was brutally killed when 25 bullets were sprayed over his body. Three other persons were also killed in the shootout. People who know Sanjiv Singh are not ready to believe that he can organize this shoot out. He is now arrested and technical evidences available with Police make him prime suspects.

It should be noted that Niraj Singh was Congress candidate from Jharia in the last Assembly election. He fought valiantly and lost the electoral battle. He was also previously the deputy mayor of Dhanbad. Currently, Eklavya Singh is the deputy mayor. The post of mayor remained with members of Singh Mansion, particularly the wife of Ramadhir Singh.

Sanjiv Singh got the limelight in 2013 when he married the widow of his elder brother Rajiv Ranjan Singh. Actually, two years back a person named Brajesh was arrested. He had confessed that Rajiv Ranjan who was kidnapped had been killed. The revelation ended the hope of Singh Mansion about any miraculous return of Rajiv Ranjan. That day Ragini, the wife of Rajiv Ranjan, also became a widow. She was having a daughter and Kunti Singh, the mother of Sanjiv Singh, was quite tensed about the well being of her. She asked Sanjiv Singh to look into this matter who later decided to marry Ragini.
 
The couple went for court marriage. That marriage was applauded by everyone.
