Himanshu Kumar, IPS: Profile, Wife and Caste

Himanshu Kumar is a 2010 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Uttar Pradesh Cader. He is known to have developed close links with Mulayam Singh Yadav in a very short span of time. He maintained a powerful position during the 5 years rule of Akhilesh Yadav led UP government. It is quite impressive that how a non-Yadav police officer succeeded in winning the heart of Yadav clans of UP. 
 
Himanshu Kumar came into limelight when he used social media to made serious allegations against Yogi Adityanath led UP government and the DGP of state police. He said that Yadav police officers are being targeted for transfer and suspension by the new regime. An enquiry was ordered by police department against him for this allegation of caste discrimination and as per the report of the committee he was suspended. There is no denying that he was peeved by the loss of SP – Congress alliance and made accusations without looking into facts.

Profile of Himanshu Kumar

Himanshu Kumar was born and brought up in Bihar. He has completed his entire education from Patna and later shifted to Delhi for Civil Services preparation. He cracked UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2010 and got IPS with UP cader.
Himanshu Kumar, who used to be an intelligent and well-behaved guy, became an altogether different person after becoming an IPS officer. His relationship with family members, who were once proud of him, took a negative direction.

Himanshu Kumar got married in 2014 with Priya Singh who hailed from Motihari in Bihar. Like Himanshu, she was also a Rajput by caste. Priya’s father was an Engineer and had lots of ancestral property. He gave lump sum money as dowry for the marriage along with precious land plots. Even Himanshu Kumar admitted getting land plots as ‘gift’. He denied getting any dowry. Soon after marriage, Priya found that Himanshu is in a relationship with another girl and he consented to marriage just because of premium plots he was getting in the form of dowry. She tried her best to convince Himanshu, but didn’t get any success. 

Frustrated with his attitude, Priya filed a case against him. Her parents also supported her. 

Himanshu Kumar was posted as SP Firozabad during that time. He used connections in Akhilesh Yadav government and ensured that nothing happened against him. 

It was Akhilesh Yadav Government who helped him to an extent that not even a departmental enquiry was ordered against him. 

He retained the same power and Priya is still hoping for justice. 

After election result, Himanshu Kumar tweeted against Yogi Adityanath for the same reason. He was actually giving back to Akhilesh Yadav.
