Charu Nigam, IPS: Profile, Family and Boyfriend

Charu Nigam is a 2013 batch Indian Police Service Officer of Uttar Pradesh cader. She is also termed as ‘Lady Singham’ for her courageous performance in terror ridden Chambal region of Jhansi and now in the crime prone belt of Poorvanchal. She is being seen as a beacon of hope for millions of girls in UP who on a daily basis has to bear with eve teaching and stalking. She is currently posted in Gorakhpur, the home ground of UP CM Yogi Adityanath and spearheading the challenge of freeing the roads and girls educational institutes from the scourge of stalking. However, she had recently been misbehaved in full public view by a senior BJP MLA from Gorakhpur who happened to be also a close confidante of Yogi Adityanath.

Profile of Charu Nigam

Charu Nigam was born in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. However, her family soon shifted to New Delhi because her father Late M. S. Nigam got job with DDA as an Engineer. She did her schooling from New Delhi. Her family is quite passionate about education. Her father who did engineering from IIT Roorkey never made any difference between his son and daughter when it comes to providing education. Both Charu and her brother Vikas Nigam cracked IIT.

Apart from engineering, Charu’s father was also expecting her to become an IAS officer. 

Charu Nigam was always a sort of challenging personality. She has this habit of challenging the status quo, challenging the idea of being in the comfort zone, challenging the social status of an IITian in India. This revolt kept her hungry for doing something different. But, it has also ensured that she got poor ranking in IIT. She got degree with 6.2 CGPA – a very poor score for such a bright student. Then, again, challenging the status quo starts to haunt her. She decided not to work with Software/IT firms whatsoever fat the salary at hand might be. She was looking for a position as a business analyst. But, that couldn’t happen. It is quite surprising that Charu couldn’t get a decent job after completing her B. Tech from IIT. 

Frustrated and wanting to think about her life away from her parents, Charu joined ICFAI Technical University in Dehradoon. Fortunately, she left ICFAI just after three months and decided to prepare for Civil Services.

But, there was more to her life. She got rejection from her boyfriend because of her caste. And, then she lost her father. These two episodes created a sort of havoc for her. She got into depression and couldn’t crack Civil Services.

She could crack UPSC Civil Services in 2013 and got All India Rank of 586. She got IPS with UP Cader. 

After completing her training in Hyderabad, Charu joined UP Police as ASP. Her first posting was in Jhansi where she won heart of public with dare devil attitude. The big land and mine mafia in the region used to fear by her name. Few months later, she was transferred to Gorakhpur. Here also, she is being applauded for her no nonsense policing.

Charu Nigam had a breakup which was also a reason behind her depression. The reason behind breakup was her caste.

Charu is soon going to be married. She just said that the choice of her spouse will be made by her mother and he will be from UP.

Charu Nigam and Radha Mohan Das Aggarwal 

The local MLA Radha Mohan Das Aggarwal is a senior leader of the BJP. He has been an MLA for fourth consecutive terms. He is not digesting the fact that he was not made a minister while the MP of Gorakhpur has become the CM. However, he is also considered quite close to Yogi. 

A video footage depicting Mr. Aggarwal publicly misbehaving Charu had become viral. The issue was a liquor shop and protests against it by women. Since liquor shop is properly licensed, it became the duty of the administration to let it run. The protesters were hence removed by the Police led by Charu Nigam. Obviously, majority of protesters were women. Angered by this news, the MLA reached the spot and misbehaved with her. Charu was seen wiping tears. She later told that she was not crying, but only got little bit emotional especially after seeing support of her senior. But, that idiot BJP MLA should ponder over it. If he has problem with liquor shop, he should pressurise his government to cancel the license or implement prohibition. The moron should have been booked and arrested by now.
