Ajeetha Begum Sultan (also known as Ajitha Begum Bino) is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Kerala cadre. She is the first Muslim woman from the state of Tamil Nadu to have become an IPS officer. She is widely respected for her deep commitment in maintaining law and order in the area she works. She is popular for taking stern actions on the spot without taking care of any political pressure or for monetary gains. Honesty and work ethics are her USP.

Ajeetha was born and brought up in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. She has done all her education from this city famous for being the hub of Indian textile industry. She had an eye to become an IAS officer while doing graduation. She appeared in the UPSC Civil Services Examination and cracked it in her very first attempt. Her All India Rank was 397. She had taken coaching for Civil Services preparation from Higher Studies Centre, Coimbatore.

The All India Rank of Ajeetha in the UPSC was not high enough for her to get IAS – her dream. However, she easily got IPS. She didn’t get her home cadre, but was successful in getting the adjoining state, which in fact turned out to be a boon in disguise as she was going to be married with another officer of the same cadre – Kerala.

Ajeetha is married to Satheesh Bino, who is also an IPS officer of the same batch and cadre. They got to know each other during training at National Police Academy, Hyderabad and later got married once the training was done. Satheesh is a Hindu while Ajeetha is a Muslim. Fortunately, the barrier of religion couldn’t stop them from uniting for life.

The couple has two children – one son and a daughter.

The daughter was born only recently. In fact, Ajeetha was on maternity leave for her daughter. When she returned from maternity leave, her new posting created a sensation throughout India. She was appointed as the City Commissioner of Kollam. She took charge from her husband Satheesh, who was previously the City Commissioner.
